FAQs

You're not alone in curiosity

Let's get you some answers

Anchor 1

Do you accept insurance?

Fired Up Chiropractic is not in any insurance networks and is a cash based practice. FSA and HSA cards are accepted.

This model was chosen so that there could be more time devoted to patient care and concerns instead of billing.

Are you Spanish speaking?

Sadly, no. The only language offered at my office is English.

What is the purpose of the Chiropractic Adjustment?

The chiropractic adjustment is used to improve joint function and remove interference of the Vertebral Subluxation Complex for optimal body function.

A subluxation is when the vertebral bones of the spine are mildly dislocated and cause nervous system interference. This means that the joints move dysfunctionally and mobility is restricted.

Restriction of mobility leads to abnormal muscle function where the muscles of the spine weaken, get tight or go into spasm. Muscle spasms lead to soft tissue degeneration with increased inflammation during a spasm. Soft tissues affected are spinal discs, ligaments, and tendons.

The combination of joint mobility and abnormal muscle function can lead to bones spurs, built up scar tissue aka, spinal degenerative disease.

The Vertebral Subluxation Complex, describes what happens when spinal bones lose their normal motion or position from stress, trauma or chemical imbalances. It is the combination of the joint, muscle and soft tissue imbalance that occurs.  Vertebral subluxation complex can be caused by automobile collisions, emotional stress, sitting for too long, improper lifting, and chemical imbalances.

Why do my joints "pop"?

Due to blood flow and joint mechanics, gas molecules (carbon dioxide, nitrogen, etc) get stored within the joint capsule where distortion is present. The chiropractic adjustment relieves this distortion to improve bone position within the joint, the sudden release of the gas can cause an audible "pop" sound.

Do you offer gentle adjusting without the "pop"?

Yes, softer techniques are available such as Activator Methods and Thompson Drop Table.

What is the purpose of IASTM?

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM) helps to improve blood flow and fluidity between muscles and its surrounding fascia/connective tissue where knots and adhesions are present.

Knots occur where groups of muscle fibers are inhibited and not contracting and relaxing properly, leading to a lack of blood flow to the affected area. IASTM also helps scar tissue to lay in a more organized fashion than the body's default chaotic layering.
